Back when I first began my journey as a meditation teacher…

I left an almost 7-figure a year salary as a broker in finance to help people overcome anxiety, depression, panic and stress. 

With a family of four to support, following my passion and working in a life-changing space caused a huge financial dilemma.

This dilemma came with added pressure on the relationship I had with myself and my family.

Things were beginning to be financially challenging. 

Most of the long service pay out I received from my broker job had dwindled…

And my meditation business was NOT where I’d hoped it to be. 

You see, I noticed I was getting clients here and there…

Filling up meditation classes… but nothing it wasn’t consistent.

I never really knew where my next paycheck was coming from.

So thinking that the best way to attract clients is to give them “tons of value”... 

 

I Even Ended Up Helping A Lot Of People For Free

…. that way people will get to know me and want to work long term with me. 

Yes, it was fulfilling because I just wanted to see them thrive in life without fear, anxiety or panic.

But deep down, I’d hope they’d become long-lasting, fruitful clients of mine. 

However, regardless of my best efforts…

In most cases… they didn’t!

As a result… 

To me, my business looked to be a failure, my mind was telling… “I’m not good enough to be a meditation teacher” - nobody listens to me. 

On one occasion when hosting a workshop…

I found myself looking at myself in the mirror, droplets of sweat were flooding my forehead with nerves. 

You see, It was such an unfamiliar space. 

I was still a broker on trading room floors and now there were a handful of people waiting and relying on me at the meditation studio (I had subleased from a naturopath) to help them with meditation and spiritual development. 

Some of them were suffering from severe anxiety. 

“What if it doesn’t work for them?” 

“What if I make a mistake or make a fool of myself.”

 “Who do you think you are teaching meditation, you’re a broker with an ego, not a spiritual teacher?”… 

 

… This Business Is A Joke - You're just an imposter!

 

…. All these thoughts running through my head.

Ahhhhhhhh…. Just STOP - I said to myself. 

That day imposter syndrome nearly got the better of me - I was so close to walking out the door and not continuing on my path. 

My confidence dropped to an all time low, to the point where when I discussed my business to others it wasn’t “a thriving success”...

 

But more like… “Yeh, it’s doing quite well… have a couple of clients”... 

Leaving it at that, any other enquiries, I’d slide the conversion away from my business. 

I’d see others around who were hitting a global scale… 

At the time, I’d think they’ve just got it, they’re born with something that I could never have.

Little did I know that this was just something I told myself…. 

Who knows…

It could be something you might be telling yourself too. 

Well, as you're about to see in a couple of minutes, this is certainly not the case. 

What’s more… 

My financial situation has gotten worse… 

With No Consistent Income Coming In From Me, We Were Forced To Sell The Family Home

What was I going to do? 

I knew being a meditation teacher was what I wanted to do but the financial strain was taking its toll… 

The shopping each week was getting smaller and smaller. 

You see…

I wanted a way to align my life with passion, career and financial well-being and be able to make the impact that I dreamt of. 

I wanted to be recognised not only by friends and family but globally too. 

My vision board had…

  • A picture of a guy speaking on stage…
  • Large groups of people meditating on the streets in some of the biggest cities in the world…
  • The perfect resort in Bali where I was going to host my first retreat…
  • And of course, attracting in abundance - a revenue stream to comfortably support my family.

But these visions seemed to be moving further away from me, it was like my business was contracting … not attracting. 

It felt like I was constantly running around, doing things, being busy all the time…

Yet, when you looked under the hood, I’d only have a couple of clients, and a couple of workshops hosted every month. 

The return from this was certainly not something that would give you a sense of security in your job…

This Is Not What Entrepreneurship Is About - Working Endlessly Just To Survive

Thinking that Building A Business Is Hardwork!

That You MUST give yourself at least 3 years before your business is stable and you can start to enjoy it.

Well, let’s face it, it's partly true… But only if you're not focusing your energy on the wrong things 

Actually without the wheels of abundance, I wouldn’t be surprised if you spent 5, 10, even 20 years in business and still be in the same place as were when starting out. 

You see, I noticed after 3 years of running workshops, getting clients here and there and occasional speaking talks to local communities…

That I was still no closer to my dream business. 

And after selling the family home, feeling crushed over the fact that house built with our own blood, sweat and the occasional tears was just GONE…

I finally had enough! 

 

So I Went Back To The Drawing Board

 ….to try and figure out the whole “building a successful business”

Why was it that for some months… my visions and business goals were in flow while others there wasn’t a sight of them? 

How did I get one high paying client?

Where did the only opportunity to speak on stage at a local event (which fell through) come from?

How was it I was able to sell out a 2 day workshop without any effort at all?

What was going on? 

I looked at everything… 

Journal prompts, how I was feeling, what was going on in life at the time and of course the mechanics of the business itself.

That’s when I noticed… 

  • The months where I spent less time on the business and focused on my personal wellbeing and spiritual connection had full workshoprs, people reaching out weekly and at least one speaking gig.
  • When one area of my business was thriving… I’d think “okay this is giving me the most gain”, so I’d spend most of my energy there… Then when I worked on another area of my business, the fuel(energy)I put into it wasn’t as “high-vibrational” - causing it to stay stagnant. 
  • I worked until I was completely depleted, then took time to rest and rejuvenate which led to resistance towards my business on my final day of rest (“uuuggghhh, not this again”)
  • I opened my eyes to the “business chores checklist” - needless tasks I’d be happy to do because they took me away from the main areas of my business that in some cases, I was afraid to work on.
 
And lastly…

I Realised My Business Was Like A Bike With Square Wheels,
No Matter How Hard I’d Cycle…

 There would be no movement… 

Simply because the main areas that created movement were not designed to work in flow and harmony with each other… 

So trying to gain momentum would always end up, me, being burnt out and fed up. 

Now, at the time, instead of 2 wheels, my business only had 3, which then grew to 6 (more on that later) 

 

And in order for these wheels to work they need to be balanced, work simultaneously and be fuelled with the right type of energy. 

 

That energy came from me - my mental, physical and spiritual state.

When I started to focus on just these wheels and the energy I was putting into them…

And stopped running around in circles with all those other “business chores”...

It was like a floodgate had just been opened…

For the first time, I felt that not only was I personally in flow universe but so was my business… 

And it wasn’t long until I started pulling the visions on my board down and sticking new expanded versions up… 

(Speak at a local event… NEXT - Speaking in front of hundreds of people)

Business Was Thriving…

 …and it was effortless, everyday more and more people were interacting with my business 

Because of it, these opportunities started to appear… I felt I could expand from just 3 wheels to 6…

AND THEN… POOF… JUST LIKE THAT… 

Manifestations were happening quicker than ever….

It got to the point where I’d write a number on a yellow sticky pad at the start of the week… 

Then I’d only focus my energy on these wheels and vola…. That number would be in my bank account
